Four crossbars support a closed crown at the top of the canopy; the posts go down to form legs and feet of the bed, which end in flattened balls. The mattress and pillow on which the infant Jesus lies are of embroidered silk. The Infant Jesus is seen sucking his finger and is adorned with a necklace of precious stones, a belt with jewels, bracelets and anklets.
