On the 19th December 2022, Museum of Christian Art, Old Goa celebrated the holidays with the annual Christmas event ‘Carols on the Hill, 2022’. Holy Hill in Old Goa was the central venue of the event. As an annual festival, Natal pop-up, a market space for community was set up in the MoCA courtyard space with a range of produce on sale, including handmade ornaments, polychrome jewelry, upcycled accessories and Christmas sweets. In the Christmas crafts corner, the crowd made their own DIY ornaments with Milan, had face paintings done by Shambhavi and learnt to make their own star with the ‘Star Man of Goa’ Anthony Rodrigues.
A traditional brass band regaled the audience with melodious music on the Heritage steps of the Holy Hill. As a part of the event, MoCA conducted two contests, the Star making contest for families, where they made their own star from scratch and the Little Angels contest, where children came dressed as angels wearing their handmade wings. Caravela Cafe set up shop to satisfy the taste buds with their delicacies. The Carol concert, this year was held in the St Anthony’s Chapel. The Stuti Choral Ensemble by Parvesh Java and the Ektaal Children’s Choir by Nayantara de Lima Leitao created an atmosphere of celebration. At the end of the night, the choir led the audience in a singing procession back to the MoCA courtyard to light the Christmas Tree.
