This Children’s Day, step into the enchanting world of Goa’s wetlands and shores where otters glide through quiet waters and tiny crabs turn sand into art. Join us at the Museum of Christian Art for a special screening of Kharvan and Sand Laddoo by Filmmaker Nitya Navelkar, two beautifully crafted mixed-media films that bring to life the hidden stories of Goa’s ecosystems.
Kharvan explores the delicate coexistence between smooth-coated otters and the centuries-old Khazan lands- remarkable human-engineered wetlands where tradition, biodiversity, and resilience intertwine. Through a lyrical blend of live-action and animation, the film invites young viewers to see how people and nature can thrive together in harmony.
In Sand Laddoo, we journey to Goa’s beaches to meet the ingenious sand bubbler crabs -small yet mighty creatures whose quiet labour keeps our shores alive and balanced. With gentle humour and curiosity, the film reveals how even the tiniest beings play a vital role in sustaining the world around us.
Nitya is a wildlife and social impact filmmaker, animator, and storyteller. With a deep love for nature and animals, her work explores the unique stories each creature holds. She blends reality and imagination through various visual media, including illustration, animation, film, and photography. Nitya is a Communication Design graduate from the National Institute of Design, Madhya Pradesh.
The event will also include a specially curated tour of the museum, offering children and families a chance to discover MoCA’s remarkable collection through the lens of nature-inspired motifs.
Come celebrate Children’s Day with curiosity, creativity and rediscover the wonder of nature in every story, sculpture, and stroke of paint!
